Long time no see!

Visiting friends and family in Singapore (now written as "Spore" on my blog) was one of the main activities we did there. Usually, I just meet up with a handful of really good friends, plus family from my mum's side, and recently also my dad... . However, this year was different. Because of Facebook, I had managed to reconnect with so many ex-classmates back in Singapore that I was able to take the opportunity to meet up with most of them again during this trip!

So here are the wonderful people I managed to meet up with, both good friends as well as long-lost friends + family:

Good friends (therefore, those I see every time I'm back without fail):

Sandra: Have known her for 11 years already...since I started working in Denmark. She's been temporary based in Spore for 1½ years now, but will be back in Denmark again real soon. Can't wait!

Shirley: We've known each other since we were 7 years old in primary school...but became best friends only when we were 13. People tend to mix up our names quite often, and the funny thing is that I still have people calling me "Shirley" sometimes even here in Denmark where nobody knows her.

Mel C: Ok, her real name's Melody Chong, hence, Mel C for short, like one of the Spice Girls. And spicy hot she is indeed! Got to know her when she was an exchange student in Copenhagen way back in 1999.

Catherine: had befriended her in Copenhagen in 2006 with 2 other Sporean girls...but unfortunately, didn't manage to meet up with the other 2 :o(.

Reconnected friends because of Facebook:

Ei Leen, Lüping and Lynndy (from left to right): Classmates from my last 2 years of secondary/high school. Amazing that they all still look the same! Oh, I know - there's a strange man behind us who thought he was P-Daddy (Pimp Daddy).

Teresa and Fazlina: Classmates from my Tourism Management school in '94/'95. Many thanks to Fazlina who took the initiative to organise a get-together at Swensen's Restaurant because she knew I was visiting!

Simon and Selene: Also classmates/coursemates at my Tourism Mgt school. Simon was sometimes my project group mate too. Selene and I didn't really talk much together then, since we were not in the same class, and I did leave the school a year earlier because of the move to Denmark, so we never really had a good chance to socialise. She's actually a lecturer now at that school. How funny is that?

Sue Lynn and Salihin: Once again, from my Tourism Mgt school. Used to hang out a lot with Salihin and a couple of other guys from my class after school on Fridays. Really fun times, just talking and joking.

Vanessa: Met her unexpectedly at Mel C's birthday party on our last evening in Spore. We go way back in primary school too, and she was also my cheerleading "captain" of our Blackmore house team in secondary school. That was indeed a fun time, and I still remember some of the choreographed moves she had taught us ;o).

Family:

Mum's side / Chinese side: Will not attempt to name every one of them, but there's just Uncle Lawrence missing, since he was also busy taking photos. The 2 ang mohs (white people) in the pic are obviously not from my Chinese half. Oh, there's actually 1 of us who is hidden very well, and he is under someone's pink dress...if you know what I mean. (For those who need me to spell it out, it's a baby on it's way! Cousin Fiona is going to be a mum soon.)

My dad and his wife: See any resemblance???

Stepbro Nimal: He's the son of my dad's wife, and a month older than me. Really good guitar player, I must say... . Hey, I did actually make a video recording of him playing! Must put it up for you guys to hear!

Geetha: My 2nd oldest cousin from my dad's side. This is our meeting for the 1st time in at least 20 years! Now she's married and a mum to a lovely girl, who is now studying in my primary school, actually. And taking Mandarin as her 2nd language! Just like I did :o).

Dad's side / Indian side: I will all the more NOT attempt to name the individuals in this photo! Actually, there are still a handful missing from this pic, so not all are accounted for here. Big family huh? Now you know why I won't bother tracing my ancestors in China and India. Would take more than 1 lifetime.

New friend:

Caleb: We must of course not forget the little ones, so here I am meeting Shirley's baby boy for the first time! He told me that he'd like to return to Denmark with me, but I told him I won't have any milk to feed him with...so he decided to remain in Spore with mummy. Smart boy.

Anyway...that's all of family and friends! There were a couple of others whom I didn't get to meet during this trip because of time. Oh, and of course dear friend Cindy is living in Boston at the moment, so had missed her too :o(.

Next post will be about Spore's FOOOOOD!!!! You guys can't wait, huh ;o)?

PS: For those of you who had viewed my photo albums in Facebook, I know that most of the pics and comments are repeated here...but hey, not all my blogders (blog-readers) have a Facebook account or are on my friend's list, so please bear with me :o).
